| Got any tips for viewing pictures? |

| Yes, there are two ways to views the pictures. When you click on 'Photo Archives' in the left-hand column, two new subheadings will appear underneath If you can click on 'Photo Archives' in the left-hand column, the title of the categories in which pictures held will appear with the number of pictures in each category beside each title. Click on the category you are interested in. Clicking on a picture will show you the picture on a page by itself and give you the opportunity to comment on it. If you click on it again you will see an enlarged version of the picture. Alternatively you can select a category from the drop-down list. If you are a registered user, then below the category listings then will be a section entitled 'Active Notifications'. Here you can choose to request notification whenever a new picture is posted by clicking the box so that a tick appears in it and then clicking the 'Update Now' button. Next to the picture you will see the poster's name. Clicking on the icon to the left of the name will take you to the poster's information page where you can see whatever details the poster has chosen to make available to other users, such as, email address. Clicking on the icon to the right of the poster's name will take you to a page displaying all of the pictures posted by that person. There are two icons under the name. The left-hand one has a number next to it representing the number of 'hits' or views that picture has had. The next icon to the right (a clipboard) has a number next to it for how many comments have been made about that picture. Next to that will be 5 stars and a number showing its rating score out of 10. Another way to access the pictures is to click on 'Top Rated' or 'Popular' which will have appeared in the left-hand column of the page when you the clicked on 'Photo Archives'. Clicking on either of these will take you to lists of the pictures in order of viewers' preferences. | The most 'Popular' pictures are the ones with the most 'hits' or views. Next to each picture are the words, 'Rate it'. Clicking on this phrase takes you to a page where you can give the picture a mark of between 1 and 10. The ones with the best scores are listed at the top of the 'Top Rated' page. PS You can't rate a picture you have posted yourself. |
| How do I comment on a picture? |
| Only registered users can add comments. Registering takes only a minute. To register, please go to the home page and click on 'register now' in red above the picture on the top, left-hand side of the page, or click on the following word: Register to go straight there. Once you are registered, click on the picture and if you are a registered user, it will appear on the page by itself with a 'Post Comment' button underneath. (For an explanation of the drop-down list for 'flat', 'threaded' and 'nested', please see the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) for that under 'Showcase Index' or 'Local News' - to go straight there, click on the following words: flat, threaded, nested.) Clicking on this button will take you to a 'Post Comment' form. You can get to the same form by clicking on the 'Reply' button at the end of someone else's comment. The title should already be filled in but you can change it if you like. You might like to add an icon from the row under the title to indicate your reaction to the picture. If you would like to add a picture, e.g. an avatar to represent your user persona, please look at the FAQ, 'How do I include a picture?' under 'Submitting Events'. To go straight there, click on the following words: Include a picture. If you have a website link which is associated with your comment and would like to include it with your posting, then click on the first, icon from left next to word:? message'. You will be asked to type the website address next to 'URL'. To do this, go to the website and copy the address from the address bar. It will start with http:// Paste this into the box next to 'URL'. If you have a contact email address, you can add that by clicking on the second icon from the left and typing your email address next to 'Email'. Type your comment in the large white box. You can add a 'Smiley' by clicking on one of the faces. Uncheck the box labelled 'Auto wrap lines' and click on 'Preview' if you would like to check how your comment looks before posting. When you are ready click on the 'Post Comment' button. After a few seconds your message will appear at the end of the article or thread of comments. You can click on 'edit' if you would like to change your comment and the information you have input will be displayed again for you to make amendments. When you have made the changes, click on the 'Post Comment' button, as before. N.B. | How do I post a picture? |
| First, you will need to be registered in order to post events. To register, please go to the home page and click on 'Register now' in red above the picture on the top, left-hand side of the page, or click on the following word: Register to go straight there. Once you are registered, when you click on 'Photo Archives' in the left-hand column, the word 'Submit' will appear beneath it. Clicking on this word will take you to 'Photo Upload' form. You will see that the 'Max pixel size' for the picture is 300 x 300. If you are not sure if your picture will fit then find it on your computer and put your curser over it. The size of the picture will be given in a tag. If your picture is too big, you can resize it. If you would like help with this, the please see the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) 'What do I use resize my pictures?' under 'Editing pictures' - to go straight there click on the following words: 'Resizing pictures'. Once your picture is the correct size, go back to the form and add a title for your image. (If you would like to add a picture to represent yourself, e.g an avatar, please look at the FAQ, 'How do I include a picture?' under 'Submitting Events' or to go straight there, click on the following words: Including a picture'.) If you have a website link which is associated with your comment and would like to include it with your posting, then click on the first, icon from left next to word:'message'. You will be asked to type the website address next to 'URL'. To do this, go to the website and copy the address from the address bar. It will start with http:// Paste this into the box next to 'URL'. If you have a contact email address, you can add that by clicking on the second icon from the left and typing your email address next to 'Email' Type a description of your image in the large white box. You can add a 'Smiley' by clicking on one of the faces. Choose which category you would like your picture to appear in, using the drop-down box. Next click on 'browse' to find your picture in the directory of your computer. Click on the title of the picture and then click on 'open'. The address of the picture should now appear in the box next to the 'browse' button. If your picture is in the wrong orientation, you can rotate it using the icons next to 'Image Rotation'. The left-hand icon will rotate your image 90 degrees clockwise, the middle icon will rotate your image through 180 degrees, and the right-hand icon will rotate your image 90 degrees anti-clockwise. If your picture is the right way up just leave the 'no turn' button filled in. Next click on the 'Preview' button to check that your image and text are as you wish. The preview version will appear above the form so you can make any alterations. When you are ready, click the 'Submit' button. Once your picture has been validated by the moderator, it will appear on the site. N.B.
